Runway to Broader Impacts
Northeastern faculty are invited to participate in a peer learning community focused on developing and sustaining research partnerships with non-academic partners for impactful and socially responsible research. Participation is open to faculty in all colleges and at any stage in their careers. Our goal is to share information about resources at Northeastern that can help you navigate extramural partnerships and to provide a forum for interdisciplinary knowledge sharing.
Participating scholar-practitioners will:
- Engage with Principles of Anti-Oppressive Community Engagement and apply those principles to our own disciplines and projects;
- Learn about domains of community engaged research;
- Hear perspectives from colleagues across the university, learn from others’ experiences;
- Develop personal research impact statements, goals and approaches for community-engaged research;
- Share your own experiences and best practices for community-engaged research.
There are several ways that Northeastern researchers can participate in the Runway to Broader Impacts peer learning community for 2024-2025 academic year:
- Attend a virtual or in-person social event on Thursday, September 26 to meet other Northeastern researchers who are interested in developing and deepening community-engaged research partnerships. RSVP by Friday, September 13.
- Attend a virtual networking session on Wednesday, November 20 to make connections with the various offices and programs at Northeastern that can support your goals for community-engaged research.
- Join a peer mentoring study group. This is an opportunity to go deeper into resources that can support you in developing and deepening respectful and mutually beneficial partnerships. Those who sign up to join a peer mentoring group will be matched with 4-6 fellow researchers with whom they can meet to discuss readings and activities.
- During the spring semester, a series of panel discussions will feature Northeastern faculty and community partners in conversation about collaborative research initiatives.
